The sun has finally come out to stay, and with that, the world is truly coming alive! One thing that is a must every spring is strawberry picking! A grocery store strawberry has nothing on a freshly picked berry that is still warm from the sun. Sadly, this season always seems to be way too short each year, so I wanted to celebrate it by making strawberries my theme for my June bullet journal.
I was a little worried I wouldn’t be able to draw them very well, but they actually weren’t too hard to draw with these few tips:
- make sure you draw the leaves in clusters of three, and with little serrations at the edges
- a little veining detail on the leaves makes a big difference!
- Strawberries naturally spread by sending out runners, almost like vines, so draw a few clusters coming out from your main plant
- for a more realistic look, draw berries and flowers in different stages of ripeness
The berries and flowers are pretty easy to draw, so the leaves are real tricky part. Have a reference photo and/or practice if you feel like you need to! :)
I have to say, I fall in love with each month’s cover page more than the last, and I really do love how this month’s cover came out. I wanted to share it with you all, so it’s available as a free printable if you’re on my email newsletter list! If not, you can join here.
I made my monthly calendar on the next spread, adding some of that same style of illustration. This is the same layout I used [last month for my bubble tea theme] because it’s my favorite layout for these monthly spreads.
I don’t know about you, but this time of year always gets super busy, with outdoor activities starting back up, vacations, weddings, BBQs, you name it! I knew I would be busy this month, so I didn’t include some of the spreads that require more attention or filling in, such as trackers or lists. Instead, I created some very fast and simple open ended pages, including a brain dump page and a garden planner page.
Of course, feel free to switch out these spreads for whatever you need. Just make sure to leave space for any info you’ll need to jot down during this busy season!
