Video: A Blog Named Hero March Challenge - Your Favorite Product - Stenciling: 1 piece, 2 cards

Hello! A new challenge starts over at A Blog Named Hero today, and this one is a fun and easy one - use a favorite product! I chose to use a stencil as my favorite product, because every time I try a technique with stencils and then lift it up to see how it came out, it is always like magic. And there are so many things you can do with them! Today I kept it simple with an easy ink blending technique - which is SO easy and comes out beautifully with Distress Oxide Inks, which are a dream to blend. I created one stenciled piece and die cut a circle so that I could create two cards out of the one piece!

Here is a video for you to watch the process:

For my first card, I used the larger of the stenciled pieces and created a shaker card. I used a sequin mix that I had left over from the January 2018 My Monthly Hero Kit, because the colors worked really well with the ink colors I chose. I created my sentiment using the Wonderful Stamp and Cut set - I love that you get a word die along with the mini stamp set! I did some heat embossing on heat resistant acetate - this was my first time using this and it worked out really well!! I used to have trouble with acetate warping when I try to heat emboss, but no more!!

I die cut the "wonderful" word on dark grey cardstock and then heat embossed on top of that with White Satin Pearl embossing powder - WOW. That stuff is so beautiful in person. It gives the grey cardstock into the most gorgeous sheen - not metallic like a lot of embossing powders, but a different, pearlescent look. I am in love, and I will definitely be using that more in the future.

For my second card, I found some images that I had already colored for The Daily Marker challenge next month using the My Monthly Hero December 2017 kit. I also used the stamp set that came in the kit to add some silhouetted landscape images to fill in the background on my card. Then I added some shimmery gold stars using Delicata Gold Shimmer Ink. Give just the right amount of subtle shimmer on kraft cardstock!
