Video: Turning stamps into silhouettes

Hello hello! Today I have an easy idea that you can put to use with your outline stamps - simply color them in completely and turn them into silhouettes to create a cool scene!

I made a really easy scene using stamps from the Branching Out stamp set, but this will work with any stamp that has an easily distinguishable outer shape. Experiment with what you have!

After stamping my images, I colored them in using dark grey and black Copic markers. Using the dark grey allowed you to still see some of those original stamped lines for more definition, while the black was good for creating shadows (because even shadows have dark areas, right??).

The best part about coloring in a silhouette like this is that you can create an awesome Distress Inked background, and you don't even have to mask anything off - the colors won't show up on the grey and black we colored! :) I chose to mask off a circle area off to the side of the card, but you can also feel free to ink up the entire background.

To finish it off, I handwrote a "deepest sympathy" sentiment in simple script. I did this in white gel pen on top of dark grey cardstock, and then also used the same gel pen to draw in little stars and dots around my trees and sentiment.

Here's the video showing the entire process!

All in all, this is a really easy way to look at your stamps a little differently, so I hope you take a look at your supplies to see if you can try it out! Have fun :)
