Okay, so you all know that I love all things paper - cardmaking, scrapbooking, lettering. The list goes one! But I ALSO love cooking and baking... and one of my favorite experiments lately has been in the world of cupcakes. Here is what I've found to be my favorites so far: Strawberry & Cream cupcakes. Mmmmmmm.
Okay, sorry if I just made you drool but this is actually relevant to cardmaking!! Because when I saw the Brain Freeze stamp set from The Alley Way Stamps, which has a gloriously simple little cupcake, I knew that I wanted to recreate the real-life frosting I've been making in real life... onto a card. I know, crazy right? But it happened! And I'm going to show you how it's done.
So the big secret? It's just modeling paste! And you can color the modeling paste using whatever ink medium you have on hand. I used little Hero Arts ink cubes, but I think reinkers would work wonderfully for a more concentrated color. I would just stay away from inks like StazOn, which would just ink up your surface rather than transferring to the paste. Just experiment and see what works for you!
With these cupcakes being the star of the show, I finished off the card really quickly just using some patterned paper scraps, glitter tape, and washi tape.
By the way, that Brain Freeze stamp set - you get it FREE with a $40+ order from The Alley Way Stamps during June only. So now, onto the video!
And here's another photo of the finished card. Hope you enjoyed today's tutorial!
